Client Manager - Accounting & Advisory (Healthcare Focus)
Firm Overview: California-based accounting firm serving dental and veterinary practice owners across more than 15 states. We provide accounting, advisory, and tax services designed to deliver clear, practical financial insight.
Our team operates in a fully remote environment with both U.S. and offshore staff, supported by a structured workflow and clearly defined roles that promote efficiency, accountability, and consistency.
Position Summary
The Client Manager is responsible for leading client relationships, providing strategic financial guidance, and ensuring the overall quality of client deliverables.
This role serves as the primary relationship owner and trusted advisor to clients, while working closely with a Production Manager who oversees workflow execution and day-to-day client communication.
The Client Manager provides leadership, direction, and accountability while remaining actively involved in client outcomes and team performance.
Key Responsibilities
Client Relationship & Advisory
* Serve as the primary relationship owner and trusted advisor for a portfolio of healthcare clients
* Lead client meetings, including quarterly financial reviews, tax projections, and tax return discussions
* Provide strategic financial insight to support business decisions and improve performance
* Maintain proactive, high-level communication with clients while reinforcing structured communication channels
Delivery Oversight & Accountability
* Ensure all client deliverables meet firm standards for accuracy, timeliness, and completeness
* Maintain visibility over all client work and deadlines, holding the team accountable for execution
* Partner with the Production Manager to align client expectations with internal workflow and capacity
* Take ownership of outcomes, ensuring work is completed to standard and delivered on time
Team Leadership & Development
* Lead and support team members assigned to client engagements, fostering a high-performance and accountable work environment
* Provide guidance, feedback, and mentorship to strengthen technical and professional development
* Reinforce team structure and communication protocols to maintain clarity and accountability
Technical Review & Advisory Insight
* Prepare and review financial statements, tax returns, and tax planning work
* Identify risks, trends, and opportunities within client financials
* Research complex accounting and tax matters and provide clear recommendations
* Stay current on accounting standards, tax laws, and industry trends to provide informed advice
Qualifications
* 7+ years of experience in public accounting with a strong focus on client management and advisory
* Proven ability to build and manage client relationships and act as a trusted advisor
* Strong experience reviewing and preparing financial statements, tax returns, and tax planning work
* Prior experience supervising and mentoring team members
* Ability to manage multiple clients and team members in a structured, deadline-driven environment
* Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills
* High level of ownership, accountability, and follow-through
* CPA required
Technical Skills
* Proficiency in QuickBooks Online
* Experience with Lacerte, Karbon, or similar tools preferred
* Strong familiarity with cloud-based accounting environments
Work Environment
* Fully remote position with a distributed team (U.S. and offshore)
* Full-time role with a flexible schedule, with some overlap expected during standard U.S. business hours
* Collaborative, team-oriented environment focused on efficiency, accountability, and clear communication
